Happy New Year 2018!

Looking back on 2017 I am thankful for many things.  Mostly I am thankful for my wife Niccole.  We celebrated out first year Anniversary at Poets Cove on Pender Island. This summer we bought a rental property together, to begin to build for our future.  Jazmin is doing very well in her Jr. year at Western, still paying for the whole thing on her own, without debt. This summer she moved into her own apartment in Bellingham, with roommates from school.  And to help further expand her growing independence, we bought her a Chevy Malibu before school started.

Niccole’s Dad received an extremely serious cancer diagnoses, was treated for a brain tumor, lung cancer, and is now cancer free, all in this year.  Though we laid my Dad to rest in January at the Willamette National Cemetery, my Mom is doing very well living at Bonaventure in Tigard.  I am so thankful that she is in such a nice place, not alone, and making the best of it.

My year in sales at Nordic Yachts Northwest was my most profitable since starting in the yacht broker business.  I still have not reached my annual sales goal however, I am confident that I can reach it in 2018.

As you may know, if you follow new boat sales, New Nordic Tug sales have turned out to be a complete bust the last couple of years.  Used Nordics are still my favorite boat to sell, but the new boats have just been priced to high, and suffer from a stale, I would even say: non-existent marketing program.  If something improves I think they could sell again, but for me, as a commission only sales person, I need a boat line that I can sell now.

On that front there is hope.  At the Seattle Boat Show we are going to be selling Nordic Tugs and a new line of boats, finally! It is a line from Finland, from a builder that has been in business for a long time.  We have been given the opportunity to introduce them to the Northwest boating market, and I am very excited about it.  I feel that this is the year I need to prove that I can earn a true living at yacht sales, or get out and move on.  Have a great, healthy, and Happy New Year!

Niccole and Her Dad.
